How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your SnapBites account at any time. We respect your right to control your data and make the deletion process straightforward.

Method 1: In-App Deletion (Recommended)

1. Open the SnapBites app
2. Go to Settings
3. Scroll down to Account section
4. Tap Delete My Account
5. Confirm your decision when prompted
6. Enter your password to authorize deletion

Method 2: Email Request

If you're unable to access the app or prefer to delete via email, send a request to:

Email: privacy@snapbites.ai
Subject: Account Deletion Request
Include:

• The email address associated with your account
• Your username (if you remember it)
• A brief statement confirming you want to delete your account

We will process your request within 5 business days and send you a confirmation email once completed.

What Happens When You Delete Your Account

Immediate Effects

• Your account will be immediately deactivated
• You will be logged out of all devices
• Your profile will no longer be visible to other users
• You will no longer appear in groups or leaderboards

Data Deletion Timeline

Within 30 days: All of your personal data will be permanently deleted from our servers, including:

• Account information (name, email, profile)
• All food logs and nutrition data
• Photos you uploaded
• Progress tracking data (streaks, achievements)
• Notes and journal entries
• Group memberships and leaderboard history

Data We May Retain

For legitimate business and legal purposes, we may retain certain information in anonymized or aggregated form:

• Transaction Records: Billing records and receipts (required for tax and accounting purposes) - stripped of personal identifiers
• Analytics Data: Anonymized usage statistics that cannot be linked back to you
• Legal Compliance: Data we're legally required to retain (e.g., for fraud prevention)
• Backups: Data in backup systems will be deleted within 90 days as backups are cycled

Before You Delete

Consider These Alternatives

If you're concerned about privacy or taking a break, consider these options instead:

• Deactivate Temporarily: Pause your account without deleting your data (available in Settings)
• Adjust Privacy Settings: Make your profile private or leave groups
• Delete Specific Data: Remove individual food logs or photos without deleting your entire account
• Export Your Data: Download a copy of your data before deleting (Settings → Privacy → Download My Data)

Important: Deletion is Permanent

Subscription Cancellation

If you have an active paid subscription:

• iOS: Cancel through App Store settings before deleting your account
• Android: Cancel through Google Play settings before deleting your account
• Deleting your account does NOT automatically cancel your subscription
• You will not receive refunds for unused subscription time

Data Export

Before deleting, you can download a copy of your data:

1. Go to Settings → Privacy
2. Tap Download My Data
3. Wait for the export to be prepared (usually within 24 hours)
4. Download the ZIP file containing your data

The export includes all your food logs, photos, progress data, and account information in JSON and CSV formats.

• Request deletion of your personal data
